The FAIR Tax

The United States tax code is a mess of epic proportion. Politicians use it to make a game of you while tax evaders and crony capitalists use it to steal from you. You, the honest tax-payer.

The FAIR tax can stop to it, political class-warfare, and government reckless spending all in one fell swoop.

Consider the following Amendment as a replacement for the 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect a sales tax on all products, goods, and services sold on a consumer basis, from whatever source derived, provided that the tax be flat, as to not prefer one product, good, or service over another in the market place. The Congress shall be strictly prohibited from laying and/or collecting multiple sales taxes on any single product, good, or service rendered to the consumer (ie. Congress may not tax each part product as its manufactured or assembled, but  may tax the finished product when sold).”

This Constitutional Amendment can only go into effect upon repeal of the 16th Amendment.

Thank you for your consideration and if you agree, please, send this proposition to your Congressional representatives.

Why I Chose Christianity

I suppose I should warn you that if you are looking for a story of great miracles, ghostly apparitions, or personal tragedies leading to an irrational decision to believe in God, you will not find it here. What you will find, however, is a person who spent a lot of years looking for answers to decide what to believe in and why. Is God nothing more than Biblical mythology that people use to explain things they do not understand or is God real? Was Jesus Christ a religious zealot who gained fame for martyring Himself of a cross or was He the Son of God?

The reasons why I chose Christianity as a belief system go far deeper than most people even consider when pondering religion or science.

An American Airliner

The euphemisms used in this small article to compare America to an airline flight gone wrong, quite accurately, describes the political situation of the United States, as well as the somber mood of the people who are along for the ride.

America is akin to an airliner whose passengers were once enjoying a peaceful nap, leaving the flight responsibilities to the professionals‘. In mid-flight, some of the passengers woke up and took notice that the plane was flying in a circular motion to the left, slowly descending. When these passengers questioned the crew about the airliner’s strange behavior, they were left uneasy with the crew’s explanations, so they began waking up other passengers and alerting them. Some went back to sleep, trusting that the crew had everything under control while others continued awakening people. Finally, a few visibly shaken crew members begin to inform the passengers that their concerns were brought to the pilot who, despite the increasing left bank and descent rate of the airliner, insists that the navigation systems are functioning perfectly. Passengers are then informed that the pilot, as well as some of the crew members, have locked and secured the cockpit because they are positive the navigation systems are working and feel threatened by the crazies among the passengers and crew who are only pointing out the obvious.- Slammin’

America can not afford to continue its left-leaning downward descent. Eventually, it will either crash into the ground or land in a foreign destination. The question remains, “can thecrazies among the passengers and crew remain calm enough to figure out how to break into the cockpit, take-over America, and steer her right and upward before she hits the ground?”

The Islamic Revolution

As the tenth anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attack on America approaches, we take the time to remember. We remember the hijacked passenger planes used as bombs on the World Trace Center towers and the Pentagon. We remember the passengers of, yet, another flight that gave their lives to stop a fourth attack, as well as all the heroes who risked their lives attempting to save as many people as possible. We remember Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda, the Taliban’s declaration of war on the United States and Israel, George W. Bush and his Axis of Evil, along with the wars that ensued in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While many of these events stay fresh in our minds, what led up to them remains a mystery to the average American who has not studied the historical relevance of the Islāmic Revolution of 1979 and the horrors it brought to people living in the middle-east. To begin to understand the terror of today, we just go back. Before the Iraqi invasion, before the September 11th attacks, before the Gulf War, and the Iran/Iraq war.

As Congress Reconvenes

It seems as if the show will continue where it left off as Congress reconvenes immediately after the Labor Day holiday. In a move that is bound to ‘stir the political pot’, President Barack Obama has been scheduled to speak to joint session of Congress on September 7th to present his economic/jobs plan.

To people who do not follow politics closely, this appears to be a President offering Congress valid solutions to the economic and unemployment challenges the United States faces. But to the politically astute, who remain aware that politics is a dirty game to many United States representatives, this is little more than ‘face time’ and ‘hype’ for an event that will do absolutely nothing to change the partisanship in Congress.

The Unemployment Situation

The unemployment situation in America is out of hand and a HUGE part of the problem are falsities being propagated by notions that the wealthy and businesses should pay more taxes than they already do. Often I hear “talking points” repeated such as:  “if tax cuts work, where are the jobs?”,”these people don’t pay their fair share”,”the wealthiest Americans should pay more”, and etc..

But behind the smoke screens presented by the mainstream media, politicians, lobbyists, and special interest groups there are much more complex reasons about why unemployment in the United States is still running rampant. Hopefully, by the end of this article you will have a better understanding of what the United States government faces in retaining businesses, what businesses face in regards to competition, and what kind of informed decision YOU make in regards your future employment opportunities.
