Yesterday, Senator John McCain was given the Senate floor in regards to the debt ceiling debate and this is what he has to say :
“The Republican House that failed to raise the debt ceiling would somehow escape all blame. Then Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced-budget amendment and reform entitlements, and the tea-party Hobbits could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor.
This is the kind of crack political thinking that turned Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell into GOP Senate nominees.”
Could John McCain be smarter than I thought? Could his assessment of the Tea Party as being “hobbits who are out to defeat the hordes of Mordor” be a, somewhat demented, but accurate description of the Tea party?
What is a hobbit? Author J.R.R. Tolkien describes them as being “common folk” who keep to themselves and do not care for the adventurous plights of outsiders. Hobbits were not mean-spirit or violent by nature, rather, they enjoyed their food, drink, and pipe weed. Two hobbits, in particular, seemed to be the only “race” that could touch the ring of power and not become, immediately, possessed by it. These two hobbits, though it might have cost them their very lives, walked into the heart of the enemy’s nation with the ring in tow in order to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom, where it was forged, thus destroying Sauron forever. Against all odds, the two hobbit made it to Mount Doom before the ring finally possessed Frodo (the ring bearer)… but it was Gollum that ultimately destroyed the ring and himself due to his unnatural obsession with it.
If the people of the TEA party are hobbits, who does that makeyou, Senator McCain?

Beware hobbits of the TEA party, Senator Smeagle is after the “precious” and he will lie, cheat, connive, steal, or even bite your finger off if he has to. It is not his fault, however, the “precious” has given him an “unnaturally” long political life in exchange for the corruption of his mind and the possession of his soul. He has tried to be a good Smeagle, but Gollum keeps him awake at night – speaking to him in his dreams, telling him he must “punish the wicked hobbitses” and “regain the precious”. Gollum tells him, “do not trust master”. “Master is deceitful and will hurt Smeagle”. *gollum* *gollum*
Could this is the real reason why John McCain fears TEA party hobbits? Are they the ones who are destined to destroy the “precious” way that Republicans collectively bargain with Democrats? Are hobbits the only ones immune to the power of the “precious”?
If the “precious” is not destroyed Sauron will exploit it and will devour middle earth, laying waste to all in his path. Senator Smeagle is simply trying to keep the “precious” for himself by dividing the hobbits with “tricksies”.
