By now, the average American has become aware that neither the Republican nor the Democratic parties are serving the best interest of the American people. The majority of these party leaders have become whores; bought and paid for by big businesses and banks as well as lobbyists and special interest groups. But this is only one side of the coin. The other side involves the payback; access to tax payer money through instituted government programs, direct government funding, and/or inflated government contracts.
American politics has become a game of you, your education, your health care, your retirement, your finances, your gender, your children, your ancestry, your sex, your religion, and your life. Yes, your very livelihood is being taken from you, your children, your grandchildren, and your grandchildren’s children as well. At an increasingly alarming rate, the citizens of the United States are becoming economic slaves to their government.
The reason this political game is so successful is, specifically, because of the 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution that gives Congress the power the lay and collect taxes on… “incomes”.
The Income Tax Scandal
By it’s very nature, the income tax excludes people who do not make a legal and verifiable income. This automatically excludes the jobless, criminals, illegals, and people who get paid ‘under the table’ in cash. Then, there is the tax code which is full of loop holes, credits, incentives, and deductions put into place by politicians for each and every bank, business, lobbyist and/or special interest group that pays for their continued political support.
Specifically, because every person in America does not share the burden of the cost of government, politicians have been allowed to divide people into economic classes and pit them against each other. They continue to get elected by making promises to take money from the working class and redistribute it to whom they see fit.
It is the politician WHO benefits from the 16th Amendment by turning Americans into economic slaves for their own political benefits. It is WHAT the politician uses to divide the American public into social economic class to create warfare while they rob and plunder the working-class tax payer as well as the small business owner (usually causing them to fail within the first 5 years). It is WHY so many Americans are getting government benefits that exceed what they can make in the private employment sector. It is HOW both of the dominant political parties in the United States are fundamentally changing this country from a capitalist society to a socialist society.
The only question left is WHEN? When will Americans understand that increasing taxes on businesses does nothing but increase the price of the products they buy? When will Americans realize that increasing taxes on a person’s income leaves them with less money to spend? When will the American people begin to see the income tax for what is really is, nothing more than a political football for the redistribution of wealth.
Enough Is Enough
April 15, 2009, was a historic day in the fact that hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country stood up together in an effort to let Congress know that they are “Taxed Enough Already”. Almost immediately, the press, members of Congress, and even the President of the United States began a game of demagoguery and launched an all out assault to discredit the TEA party. It started with race baiting and name calling, then proceeded to attacking speakers who appeared at various TEA rallies throughout the nation. Ties to Republican funding for these events were exposed, and conservative political talk show hosts were threatened with the “Fairness Doctrine” in an attempt to shut them up.
This was not only unsuccessful, but wound up fueling a “shellacking” for the Democratic party in the 2010 mid-term elections; a trend that will likely continue into the 2012 and 2016 election cycles. Democratic party leaders have become irrational and illogical in their responses to the American constituency as well as extremely idealistic, arrogant, and out-of-touch with reality.
However, the Democratic party leadership does not have an exclusive on irrational and illogical behavior. The Republican party leadership is playing a dangerous game by trying to deceive its conservative base that the answer to fiscal responsibility means cutting government spending by some form of “self control”.
Conservatives! Do not be deceived by this false rhetoric. While Rep Paul Ryan (Wis-R) HAS addressed phasing out entitlement programs over an extended period of time, his FLAT tax proposal is fatally flawed. It does not change a thing because it does not address the true solution to secure future generations from 16th Amendment abuses such as: tax evasion, loop holes, political favors for campaign support, long term spending mandates, and etc…
The TEA Solution
Truly, we are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY, government spending is out-of-control, this nation’s debt has become a matter of it’s own national security, and Americans need to take steps to ensure that the federal government can no longer abuse the tax system. It is for this reason alone that I implore TEA party conservatives to remember why we assembled at our local government buildings on April 15, 2008. It is because the government is abusing our tax money and redistributing our wealth.
The solution is simple and much easier than you might think. Consider the following legislation :
“The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect a sales tax on all products, goods, and services sold on a consumer basis, from whatever source derived, provided that the tax be flat, as to not prefer one product, good, or service over another in the market place. The Congress shall be strictly prohibited from laying and/or collecting multiple sales taxes on any single product, good, or service rendered to the consumer (ie. Congress may not tax each part of a vehicle as it is being assembled, but it may tax the finished product when it is sold).
This Amendment can only go into effect if and when the 16th Amendment, regarding the power of Congress to lay and collect taxes on income, is repealed.”
Simply put, instead of allowing the federal government to use “income” as a tax derivative, a flat rate sales tax on all products, goods, and services will replace it.
Some of the benefits are obvious:
- No more loop holes, tax deductions, tax evasions, tax credits, or unearned income credits.
- No more economic warfare. Everyone pays the same flat tax rate. This includes criminals, illegals, and foreign visitors.
- No more federal withholding from your paycheck.
- No more incoherent tax forms to fill out.
- No more Internal Revenue Service audits and no more threat of fines or jail time for failure to pay taxes.
While some are a bit more subtle and need a bit of explanation:
- Raising taxes would become political suicide for members of Congress, unless they had a DAMN good reason to do so, because they risk the ire of the entire citizenry of the United States, not just a small group.
- This would cause bankers, businesses, lobbyist, and special interest groups who, currently, have their hands in the federal treasury to become disinterested as doing so would effect their own bottom lines. This system does not play favorites and will, naturally, bring about some much needed campaign finance reform.
- While there is argument over the ratification of the 16th Amendment and the fact that the federal government should be able to run on excise taxes alone, realistically the federal government has the upper hand. We are almost $15 trillion dollars in debt and we, as a nation, need to address it.
- Congress will no longer be able to hide the commodity tax and since capital gains and dividends are considered “income”, they will be available for businesses that earned them to use instead of being redistributed. This will create jobs.
- And my personal favorite, as the national debt is paid off, people will demand that the prices of their products, goods, and services, go down as well. It behooves no one, not even the craftiest politician to raise taxes, as they too will be effected by doing so.
The one drawback of a federal sales tax system is that the prices of products, goods, and services in the United States would increase. However, some of the increase would be offset by the dramatic increase in people paying taxes (it will almost double) and that federal tax withholding on income will cease.
America can no longer afford to continue to allow lawmakers and politicians to manipulate and divide us with nonsensical rhetoric in regards to taxation. The income tax has never been a tax that has been equally shared by all Americans. Thus, some people care about government fiscal responsibility, while others could care less because they actually profit from the mismanagement of taxpayer funds.
The “income tax” is the device that lawmakers have used to socialize America, it is the means by which the government redistributes wealth, it is the reasoning behind inflating the American economy with the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing program, it is how America is divided into convenient political categories to be defined and ruled over, and is the means by which politicians will continue to make a game of you, if you let them.
