To Those Questioning Nuclear Power

The earthquakes, tsunamis, and aftershock tremors that rocked Japan have caused three of the country’s nuclear power plants to be compromised. While none of these accidents are as bad as the explosion that took place in Chernobyl that is still damaging the environment around it today, the long term effects that these nuclear catastrophes will have on Japan and it’s people have yet to be seen.

It is specifically due to this natural disaster that I have begun seeing people question the wisdom of relying on nuclear power.

My Fight With The US Department Of Commerce

In 2010, I received, filled out, and mailed in the census questionnaire as required by the United States Department of Commerce and the United States Census Bureau. Unfortunately, they responded by sending me a “long form” to fill out and return. Twice now, the long forms they mailed me to fill out winded up in my trash can. But today, I was threatened by a fine of $5,000 for failure to comply.

This is where I have decided to draw my line in the sand with the Department of Commerce and the Census Bureau. I have been a citizen and taxpayer of this country my entire life. I have never been inside of a jail cell, nor have I ever asked for a handout or assistance from my government in any way. I am required, by law, to fill out the short form and I have complied. From here, I will be seeking legal council to defend myself against the illegal and unwarranted search of my personal life.

If you think I am making a “big deal out of nothing”, continue reading and become educated to the reality of the VERY personal questions that are asked in the 28 PAGE FORM!

It Has Pleased The Father To Make Us His Children

I recently, have had the pleasure of listening to a Franciscan Friar speak. If you are not familiar with the order of the Franciscan Friars, the are a religious order founded by Saint Francis of Assisi. These men have decided to devote their entire lives to the idea of apostolic poverty. In essence, they travel from to place revealing concepts that they have discovered from their travels, apostolic ministries, and biblical studies. They are allowed to own nothing, save the robes on their backs and sandals for their feet, they rely -solely- on the charity of others for food and housing and spend hours in prayer and meditation.

One Franciscan Friar in particular, Father David Engo, is undeniably one of the most “down to earth” men I have ever met. He is extremely humble, wise beyond his years, full of love for his God and fellow man, and has the God given ability to bring reason to a world that is in seeming chaos. He is, truly, the epitome of what I would have expected to hear and see in meeting one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ.

There are some concepts that Father Engo shared that I thought were worth pondering upon and sharing with my friends, family, and fellow Christians [regardless of denomination].

To My Brothers And Sisters

In 1988, I was employed as a retail store manager who, in my first year, took a store that was down-trending in sales and up-trending in theft to a 10% increase in sales and a shrink of 0. In 1995, I decided to move on and for the past 16 years, I have been an employed by General Motors [GM], as well as, been a member of the United Auto Workers [UAW] union in good standing. However, probably due to my retail management  experience, I am a conservative thinker who is not swayed by union or management “games”.

You see, I understand what it takes to make a business successful from both, an economic standpoint and an employee relations standpoint. When an employer loses it’s relationship with it’s employees by creating hostile work environments or pushing aggressive policies that punish the many for the sins of a few, the employee becomes prone to act out in revenge in all kinds of “unpredictable” ways.

The following article is, solely, based upon my own experiences as a GM/UAW employee and are not embellishments or based in nonsensical rhetoric.
