Political Twists And Spins

Before recapping some of the most controversial political twists and spins of 2011, it would be remiss to ignore a growing sentiment that the United States can, somehow, bow out of its protectorate role and isolate itself from the rest of the world. Doing so ignores the fact that America is already at war with terrorists and the rogue nations supporting them; it denies that both foreign and domestic political espionage occurs, even in civil societies, replacing liberty with law; it ignores the fact that there ARE evil people in the world who, through wealth and/or fame, gain political power and use it for evil purposes; and it ignores the fact that there are lobbyist groups in America that are sympathetic to “ending American imperialism”.

Imperialistic or not, America spent billions of dollars and thousands of American lives to stabilize Iraq. The United States did not take land from the Iraqis nor demand recompense of any sort, rather, America helped Iraq through the transition of Saddam Hussein to its newly elected government. Libya and Egypt were not as lucky and their entire countries are in turmoil. As they attempt their own transitions, Russia spreads communistic ideals and Islāmic revolutionaries spread quasi-political-religious propaganda while the United States lies silent for fear of being called “imperialistic”?

Wake up America! The commies and Islāmis are more bold with the exit of American troops from Iraq than ever before. Don’t be fooled into thinking you are safe because you live half-way across the world. They are very politically active in the U.S. and their riots and deceptions have American enemies emboldened by, what they perceive as, a weak President and indecisive Congress. They have gotten their inch and taken miles.

Okay, down to brass tax… but, prior to going any further, I am require by law (probably somewhere) to inform you that if you have high blood pressure, have had a stroke, are prone to uncontrollable fits of rage, or brainwashed by political rhetoric, you might want to stop reading right now…

For the rest of you, I present my pick of the top 5 political twists and spins of 2011. Ready?

The Eucharist

The Eucharist

Scriptural study is a fascinating past-time because, after a while, certain things become evident that were once hidden in the stories of the Bible and, recently, I have found my focus on the Eucharist, the Holy Communion of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is, undoubtedly, a certain mystery in the Eucharist that is beyond the understanding of science or else it is a silly ritual, in the scope of Christianity, that has no significant relevance to redemption, salvation, or eternal life because these things are already achieved through Christ’s death. It got me wondering how important the Eucharist is, what it is, and where it came from so I began to investigate, and this is what I found:

If You Give A Pig A Christmas Tree

There is a children’s story that my six-year-old read to me as a part of his advanced first grade reading class entitled, “If  You Give A Pig A Pancake…” by Laura Numeroff. It is a circular tale about a child whose pig wants a pancake and once it gets the pancake, it wants syrup, it makes a mess, it tries to clean up, it gets tired from cleaning, it takes a nap, it gets distracted, it plays a game, it gets hungry again, and ends with the pig wanting another pancake, starting the story all over again.

It got me wondering what would happen if, instead of a pancake, you gave the pig something else?

The Pelosi Files

News reports are coming out that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is holding back information on Newt Gingrich that could potentially damage his presidential run.

Nancy Pelosi

An interview with Talking Points Memo quoted Pelosi as saying, “One of these days we’ll have a talk about Newt Gingrich,” and hinted that she would divulge information collected about Gingrich during House ethics violation investigations. Mrs. Pelosi served on the House Ethics Committee that spent an entire year investigating Mr. Gingrich in the late 1990s. Congressional Democrats filed a total of eighty-four ethics violation charges against, then, Speaker Gingrich including tax evasion and campaign finance violations.

What you are unlikely to hear is that the House Ethics Committee cleared Mr. Gingrich of eighty-three out of eighty-four charges brought against him or how he forced Bill Clinton to balance the federal budget. Instead, Minority Leader Pelosi would like you to pay much closer attention to the comprehensive report of the House Ethics Committee. A report that she and her cohorts had a hand in writing and has been public record now for years.

Is she serious or has she gone delusional on us again?

Adoptive Hostages In Illinois

Are Children Adoptive Hostages In Illinois?

In December of 2010 the State of Illinois began recognizing same-sex marriages and civil unions, then, on June 1, 2011, it passed a piece of legislation called the Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act that gives homosexual married couples all the legal rights of heterosexual married couples.

The problem?

The Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act does not protect the religious freedoms of everyone in the State, it usurps them under the guise of social equality and attempts to force many religious institutions to recognize same-sex marriages against their religion, their Constitutional rights, and their will.

Pre-Republican Primary Thoughts (Part 2)

Approximately half a year ago, I wrote this bit about the people who the media expected to run in 2012 for the Presidency of the United States and while many of my opinions have not changed and many of my predictions proved true, this topic needs re-visited, specifically, because of the media.

The mainstream news media would like nothing more than to pick the next Republican candidate who will contend with President Barack Obama in the 2012 Presidential elections. After all, the media get to report on who won debates, decide who is likeable and who is not, along with being able to question and scrutinize the experience and qualifications of any candidate presented to the American public.

Dear Lie

Today, as I was relaxing and listening to some music, I ran across a TLC song (written by Babyface and Tionne Watkins “T-Boz”) called, “Dear lie“.  All day long, the lyrics to the song have reverberated in my head because they epitomize everything  I would like to convey to the leadership of the Democratic party. For the better part of 20 years,  the Democratic Party has sought to change its image because,  historically, it was Democrats who opposed abolishing slavery and it was Democrats who opposed the civil rights of blacks and women.

But this is only the beginning of their sordid deeds and their “face change“, to this very day, is only skin deep.

The Occupy Movement

On September 17, 2011, many people, encouraged by social media, unions, and community organizers attempted to “Occupy Wall Street”. The original goal of this group was to force Wall Street traders and employees to wade through a “peaceful protest” to get to work everyday which, in turn, would cause the stock markets to shut down. Upon failing to carry out their goal, the organizers of the “Occupy Wall Street”  movement used the mainstream media attention to call for Americans to “occupy something”. But unlike the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, the “Occupy” movement has little to do with corporate greed, bank bailouts, entitlement cuts, fair taxes, unending war, or the unemployment situation and more to do with encouraging civil disorder and unrest.

This is where things go from bad… to worse…

What WOULD Jesus Do

What Would Jesus Do

What Would Jesus Do

What would Jesus do?

To the Christian, this question holds the ultimate answer to life’s daily challenges. Yet, to others, this question gives the ultimate excuse to justify life’s daily sins. Since we cannot, honestly, claim to know the mind of another; let alone the mind of God. We must rely upon the graces of Sacred Scripture and Traditions to learn of Him.

Upon commissioning His disciples, Jesus spoke the following words to the twelve of them:

Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one’s enemies will be those of his household.”  – Matthew 10:34-36

Progressives Have Declared War

America’s two-party system has always been as odds with one another and there are countless numbers of examples of where heated debate has led to ridiculous rhetoric and personal attacks from both sides of the aisle. But over the past three years, the rhetoric and personal attacks have escalated and regular Americans have been dragged into a war of politics.

President Barack Obama and members of the Progressive Democratic Party have taken rhetoric to new heights by accusing Republican, especially TEA, Party members of: inciting violence, taking legislation hostage, racism, terrorism, wanting to deny medical care to people, wanting to throwing seniors out into the streets, wanting to take the rights of women away, along with several other absurd notions that have no factual basis, whatsoever.

As a matter of fact, President Obama and leaders of the Progressives have declared war on Republicans and TEA Party members, labeling them as “enemies“.
